If you believe SAP’s own numbers regarding its customer base—somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 percent of the Fortune 1000 run SAP, which is a nice neighborhood—it’s a bit surprising to hear of a high-profile industry that SAP software does not dominate.

SAP vows that it will triple its financial services business and, within three years, become the largest IT supplier to banks. Can SAP do it?
In a recent interview with Computerworld UK, SAP’s head of financial services business, Dominic Trotta, stated that the discrepancy was going to change. He vowed in the article that SAP would triple its financial services business and, within three years, ascend to be the largest IT supplier to banks.
