SAP's Q4 better than expected: HANA, mobile sales responsible
SAP said its fourth quarter results will come in better than expected as new initiatives such as HANA—the company’s in-memory analytics system—and mobile software showed solid progress. The enterprise applications software giant said revenue in the fourth quarter will check in at euro 4.5 million. Wall Street was looking for euro 4.47 billion. Software revenue was up 16 percent in the fourth quarter compared to a year ago and software related service sales were up 14 percent.

    3. SAP Mobile: inching towards the rest of the world

      Explore Constellation Research

I’m at SAPPHIRE/SAPTechEd Madrid and for the first time in a while, SAP has managed to get (half way) through a large customer event without causing serious alarms in the minds of customers and partners. Mostly. In our executive meetings, my team have been concentrating mostly upon mobile and the SAP Store since that is something that has exercised many of us as a story we have found difficult and often at odds with the rest of the industry. That is changing but as always, it’s changing the SAP way.

    9. Reflecting upon SAP TechEd 2011

      Explore Constellation Research

With TechEd moving to Madrid and mashed up with the more marketing oriented SAPPHIRE Now conference, SAP needs to shut up about HANA and find a different schtick. It can let the marketing run on from TechEd Las Vegas do its stuff. Instead, I’d like to see SAP talk much more about mobile and progress on the Sybase Unwired Platform, both of which got no airplay at TechEd. Given mobile is so hot at the moment, I was shocked. It is something that is easily understood, does not have to be disruptive or require huge consulting resources while offering the potential to proliferate solutions into the larger enterprise workforce and beyond.

This speaks about the SAP NetWeaver Gateway Overview webinar that I did June 1st, 2011. My goal was to make this webinar a Gateway for viewers to SAP NetWeaver Gateway. Now I have to admit, the title is has “Overview” in it, but I went a bit further than that…in addition to overview type slides I decided to include slides on the ways to generate and test Gateway services…so it’s more than an overview in that it gives you a feel for what it will be like to create and test these Gateway services.
