Unless you have a very specific goal in mind, “success” and “failure” can be pretty nebulous terms. In many situations, the contrast between success and failure is black and white but when it comes to an ERP implementation, the vast number of key performance indicators (KPIs) can make this assessment both time-consuming and hard to understand.

In a week where the SAP CRM world has taken a significant step forward, I knew I had to write something.
I was actually re-reading Steffen Schwark's blog - A consolidated application architecture based on SAP HANA - whilst at the same time thinking about how SAP CRM architecture has been blown apart. I think the way I reconcile the two is that there is a technical way that you can think about how SAP CRM fits together. Enterprise Agile: extending the agile process outside development
Explore The Enterprise Architect Agile Development , Enterprise Architecture , SAP Corporate , Technology
I previously wrote about Enterprise Agile, not because I just want to put the "enterprise" moniker in front of everything, but because I think there are some fundamental challenges in moving to agile software development practices within enterprises, as opposed to startups. Sales and marketing expect each release to have a "big splash". Services hates the rapid iterations since they have a waterfall mindset where you accept a new release every 6 months and spent time chewing on it. I would love some pointers on resources that help move these parts of the value chain to agile.

The current economic and employment environments notwithstanding, things still look pretty good for project managers. They are being kept on, and are still getting hired, because organizations are still ultra-cautious about spending money and getting critical projects completed as near to planned time and budget as possible.
